Benefits of Samana Mudra :

  • Also called the Mukul Mudra or the Shukri Mudra.
  • This is a Tridoshic Mudra.
  • It balances and coordinates the five elements and three doshas of the body since all elements get equal importance in this mudra.
  • It is thus very beneficial for a person whose all three doshas have become imbalanced.
  • It can also be used to prevent illness.
  • This mudra, though seems very simple, is a very effective mudra.
  • When this mudra is placed on the tense or hurting part of the body, it gets relieved. Through this mudra, energy is directed to that part of the body like a laser beam.
  • Wherever there is pain or weakness in the body, place this mudra - like a beak - touching that area. Repeat this 5 times a day for 5 minutes.
  • The electromagnetic forces generated when the five fingers come together are tremendous, bringing about a balance of all the five elements.
  • For problems in the lungs, make Samana mudra with your hands and place it on the lungs (2-3 inches below your shoulders). Place the right hand on the right lung and the left hand on the left lung.
  • For a problem in the stomach, place both hands over the stomach area.
  • For problems in the Liver or Gall Bladder, place the left hand on the liver area below the chest, and the right hand on the right side below the ribs, where the Gall's bladder is located.
  • Similarly, for problems in the abdominal area or the spleen, place the right hand below the chest towards the right ribs, and with the left hand gently stroke the left side below the ribs 21 times.
  • For problems with kidneys, place the hands behind the back in the area of the kidneys.
  • For problems of Urinary bladder or urine problems, the right hand is kept on the lower abdominal area towards the right side and the left hand towards the left side.
  • The science of Mudras states that balanced health can be attained if this Mudra is performed at least for 15 minutes a day, which activates digestion.
Precautions:
  • Do not perform this mudra for a long time.
